EVERY SINGLE DAY IS AN ADVENTURE

Okay so, these are just from a run the other day. More like a run turned into a sight-seeing trip. I'm just so amazed by this city and had no idea I lived so close to the water! I just walked on down to Battery Park and had a fabulous afternoon. Where else can you do that? I'll tell ya: no where. This place is awesome.

Obsession: David's Tea. Holy crap. They have a million weird flavors but my absolute favorite so far is Lime Gelato. Heaven in a cup I tell ya. If you come to NYC, get it. You'll buy a million pounds and run out within the week.

I really love my apartment and I just write all morning by the window! It's so peaceful. And the quietest building ever. Ahhh

Everlane had a pop-up store in SoHo!! So cool. They should really just have a store. If you haven't checked it out already, everlane.com is where it's at. Designer-quality basics for the cheapest of cheap. And you can earn credit through Facebook, twitter, etc. I gots me a black tee!

I fell in love with Chelsea this week. Had to work an event for my internship right over here. These pictures aren't even from the best part - Chelsea Market is HEAVEN. And there's an Anthropologie right next door. And you feel like you're in a different city or even country when you're there. Or at least I do.

Yeah, NYC has been so hawt, my avocado was sweating with me. UGH. (That was a perfect avocado though).

Hannah and I went to see Magic Mike. Bahahha, whatever it was interesting. Anything with Channing Tatum's and Matthew McConaughey's butts is fine. By. Me. Oh and a Coke slushie made it perfect.

And today! I went to the Upper West Side to chat and have frappaucino's with Chrissy! Gosh I love talking with her. So many interesting stories. Makes me excited about the future.

So tomorrow I'm sitting on my butt and that's that. Literally. I'm not doing ANYTHING else.

And then Sayyyyrraahhhhh will be here to paint the city!!!!

And then we make our way to D.C. where my family and Ukranian bro will be waiting for me!!!

And then I get to show them around NYC!!!!!!!

Too much excitement.

OH AND TO TOP IT ALL OFF MY REALLY REALLY COOL AWESOME BOYFRIEND GOT ME A TICKET TO SEE JUSTICE IN ASHEVILLE!!! Life is great.

Adios.

A few things.

Kate Moss sighted all around SoHo. BAHAH I wish.

Cool wall outside a restaurant while wandering on a break.

Felt kinda crappy the other night so I "ran" to get a milkshake at Schnipper's. F.Y.I. they have better milkshakes than Shake Shack (sorry Shake Shack, I still love you).

Oh and I got that cool skull bracelet.

Went to an art exhibit in Chelsea. Ladies staying at the loft had artwork in it - some were from NC and the rest were from all over America. But one lady lives in Virginia Highlands in Atlanta and we bonded. She's cool. But this isn't her work - these are a series of photos of clouds taken in Paris, so naturally this was my favorite piece.

And then we ran into a film set containing John Stamos somewhere in it all. ME-OW

This sweet girl told me about Brother Jimmy's! (And that beautiful creation called Swamp Water which helped ease the pain of LeBron James winning a championship. #sowhatwhocares) This is NC barbeque! Delish nachos. But no sweet tea, y'all. What a shame.

Went to Dos Caminos with the girls! THIS is an AMAZING Prickly Pear Margarita. Get yourself one of these babies. You'll be on your butt in no time.

I GOT TO SEE MY BEST GIRL HANNAH P!!! Not to mention at a rooftop lounge. SoOoOoOo fancy. Love you, Han!! (Oh, and that's the Empire State Building lit up for Gay pride weekend? Month? Week? I don't know).

AND THEN I GOT TO SEE MY OTHER GAL SARAHDICKSON! At a nice little Boone-esque coffee shop, of course. Love you girl-next-door!

And today was the Gay Pride parade. Madness, I tell you. Utter pandemonium. All Hannah and I wanted to do was go to the grocery store, good grief.

And then I wandered around Central Park again today. If I could just pitch a tent and live comfortably in Central Park, I'd do it in a heart beat. This is from the Belvedere Castle. Obviously, that's where I would live. Muahaha.

That's my week in a nutshell. In addition to meeting Kristen Wiig which I'm still freaking out about.

BYE.

Life. Over.

I talked to Kristen Wiig today. Not sure that anything else will matter, so I'm saying this now. That is all.

Tuesday, June 19, 2012

Really, the only thing that mattered today was this:

(Cue heavenly angel noises now). I love working at a showroom.

And...

THE FACT THAT KRISTEN WIIG LIVES IN THE BUILDING IN WHICH I WORK. Can I just tell you that I almost passed out at the mere news that she lives there. I didn't even see her. Can you imagine what will happen when I do see her? (There's no ifs, ands, or buts about it. I will see her. [In a totally not creepy way] [Maybe]) Yeah, I don't know either. It could be really embarrassing. I love her.

Oh AND...

I learned of this boutique that I am now in love with - Brandy Melville. Perfect jewelry and clothes at a perfect price. Finally a break from Forever and H&M!

Oh AND...

I landed a perfect ten.

It was a good day to say the least.

I am worn out and need a full body cleanse. I can feel subway and polluted NYC air germs creeping into my pores. BUT I love it here anyways. Just need to figure out the New Yorker secret of keeping clear skin.

  • I started my job yesterday and I love it. It's perfect. And I love the girls I work with - everyone is so interesting!
  • I work next to a famous Italian bakery.. which is bad news for my thighs. (Excellent gelato damn it.) But while in that bakery, I saw IMAN! Like, the supermodel. Just shocked. But I guess I was the only one. Still think it's super cool.
  • So I thought it'd be a great idea to go shopping in SoHo after work - NO. If I never went to Broadway on a Saturday again, I would be completely ok with that. I just hate everyone there.
  • Spent some time on Q's rooftop. Rooftops are always awesome. Duh.
  • But I also ran into a street fair on that wander and got some bangin' Mexican corn. And a flower.
  • You literally canNOT get bored here. If you are, congrats - you've achieved the impossible.
  • I saw Amy Adams filming a movie on the walk home. Nbd.
  • Then I stayed in like a lame on a Saturday night because I can't even think straight anymore. I need good sleep so someone PLEASE knock me out. Just right in the face. Lay it on me.
  • On a happier note, I went to Hillsong NYC today and absolutely LOVED it. I mean, I still love Elevation more duh but it was great. Like Elevation on a much smaller scale. Same music. Much more diversity. In a club. The pastor has lots of tats and is super hip. So I'm excited about that.
  • I walked all around Central Park and plopped down in Strawberry Fields area for a while and started reading that Mindy Kaling book. LOL-ing alone. It's that funny - so read it!
  • Retail therapy and the OKC v. Miami con una cervesa ended my fantastic day. (Although the Heat winning wasn't fantastic).
  • Tomorrow starts up being a professional Pinner again, BRING IT ON.
  • I have a blister that keeps wearing away and I think my bone will start showing soon if I don't stop wearing closed-toe shoes. Ew.
  • Five more days 'til the apartment. Hallelujah.
  • And on that note, GOOD night.

Friday, June 15, 2012

This will be short and sweet since my mother made it clear that the other one was too long. Hmph.

  • I went to a fantastic coffee shop, which is located inside a super awesomely-designed hotel and restaurant this morning. And got a LOT done.
  • I got to play on Pinterest at work all day.
  • I love my coworkers.
  • I got to eavesdrop on a conversation about Anna Wintour from a stylist who is super friendly and awesome and from Texas. And she has great red hair. Like my momma.
  • I had some nasty vegan lo mein today. Which was too expensive.
  • Alicia Keys lives next door to my office.
  • I don't like Broadway in SoHo.
  • I had a mini anxiety attack in the subway.
  • Ya girl is now employed! At a super cute boutique. In an awesome area, close to home AND work AND the park. Boo yah.
  • So after that awesomeness happened, I was feeling a little high on life and walked for a really. Long. Time. And I didn't even notice until now.
  • Ate at an awesome pizza place by home.
  • I went into Urban and immediately looked at the guys' section. Guess I miss David a little.
  • Then I went to H&M and celebrated a little.
  • And NOW, bed. The Bachelorette. And the rest of my s'mores cupcake.
  • 10-4.

I'm actually in NYC. For the whole summer. Whoa.

So I finally got here! NYC is just amazing. There's no easy way to describe NYC except just amazing.

On Sunday, Dad and I started our journey but crapped out in Winchester, Virginia, wherever that may be. We got up bright and early and finished the trip. I came to find my temporary living situation, the loft owned by my school. Pretty cool set up. I don't really care for the area, but I mean there's obviously a ton of stuff around here just like every other area.

And of course, as soon as I met up with Quinten, he had something for us to do - A FOSTER THE PEOPLE CONCERT IN CENTRAL PARK. That was a huge deal to me but I guess kind of normal for everyone else. Whatevs. It was awesome. I love that band, super fun.

So thennnnn, I had my internship the next afternoon! I got up really early - not really by choice (I currently sleep in a room with nine other beds ugh) - but that was good because I got to walk to work and explore a little. I had breakfast at a little grill in Gramercy, which was surprisingly super cheap.

On the walk I realized that the church I want to try out is right by my temp living! Plus.

I also realized that my temp living is not in the very best area. Downside. But it's temp. Plus side.

So I wasted some time and went into some stores on Broadway in SoHo and then started my first day at Red Light PR! I really loved it: blogging, organization, lists, meeting cool people, helping pick out clothes for photo shoots, just really everything I like to do. I just really wish it was paid and I could do that every day instead of doing tons of job searching.

Got dinner at Num Pang that night which is DELICIOUS. Weird sandwiches. And met another roommate who's from Charlotte and goes to my school. Small small world.

And on Wednesday, I had absolutely nothing to do. It was nice. So I walked to where my permanent apartment will be (in a week thank GOD) and I instantly fell in love with West Village. Like literally instant. Wanted to be nowhere else. I live above an organic/locally made pizza and beer spot. Super cool. And then there's a hip barber (in case I become a man) and a little coffee shop/bakery. And there's a million other cool things but those are right by me! Gosh I can't wait.

So as I was drinking my coffee (because now I like coffee?) and eating my crumb cake, I decided I wanted to become a reader. Be a little more intellectual, ya know? (I have yet to start my book). SOOOO I went and (tried) to get a library card. I walked all over freaking creation. And then realized that the Jefferson Market branch doesn't give you your physical card - Mid-Manhattan does! (A million,  okay like five, miles away). So I gave up and took the subway and FINALLY got my library card! Now I'm a real New Yorker, right? So I got that Mindy Kaling book. Exciting! Not really.

Then I came back to realize I was exhausted, but Paul wanted to get dinner. So of course I went. And we ate on the water at Frying Pan and it was so cool. Then we took the train to Central Park and walked around for a while. I LOVE it over there. So pretty and so many people to imagine their stories. Fun for me.

Today I explored again. I took the train to West Village because I had zero energy to walk after my lack of ANY sleep last night (thank you new roommate who snores like a bear growls) and turned in a few resumes. No one's hiring though. Hmph. But then I gave up and randomly decided to walk a century to the Freedom Tower. And forgot that Obama was coming so EVERYONE was down there. Whoops! On the way, I found some nice cobblestone roads, cool restaurants/coffee shops, and a possible Tom Cruise siting. I didn't wait for very long though.

I finally got to the Freedom Tower and took an instagram, because that's basically the only reason I wanted to go, and then saw a sign that there were some food trucks nearby! So I spent 45 minutes trying to find them to find they were closing. Whoops again! So I got Shake Shack. But I have to go back - there's a grilled cheese food truck. YUM.

THEN I came back and chilled until dinner at Dogmatic, and organic hot dog place - really yummy and cool.

Now. I'm. Exhausted. So that's the end of this. Almost.

I miss my mom, dad, sisters, boyfriend, best friends, and small town. I think I'll grow to like this but I'm still feeling like this is vacation and I'll go home soon. Nope. Two months, y'all! Two months...

Oh and I said y'all today and got a warm feeling in my stomach. Never thought that would happen, but I'm really okay with that.

So, until then I'll keep writing about my fantastic adventures. Adios for the night.
